¿Aprender inglés? Te recomiendo a Steve Ford

 
Steve Ford, es un muy buen profesor de inglés online que descubrí buscando videos en youtube cuando estuve estudiando y para mi suerte estaba en Canadá.
Steve tiene 19 años enseñando el idioma, ha trabajado en las más prestigiosas escuelas del país, así como también para el gobierno de Canadá como profesor de los programas TOEFL y ESL.

Desde Vancouver se dedica a dictar clases online a extranjeros via skype/webcam. Además cuenta con una página web llamada Private English Portal. Desde la web y Youtube nos enseña el idioma con videos muy bien elaborados y con bastante diferenciación, detalle que me hace recomendarlo. A diferencia de otros buenos y conocidos como Mr. Duncan(UK) y Engvid (USA), lo que me gusta de Steve es que hace bastante énfasis en las diferencias existentes entre el Inglés Americano y el Británico y además sabe reconocer cual es la debilidad que tenemos según el país de donde somos.

Steve, no solo dicta clases a personas de todo el mundo sino que interactúa con ellos y contesta a sus preguntas. Su especialidad es Business English. En cada video busca la manera de evaluarte cosa que definitivamente te engancha. Tiene además de sus videos regulares una serie de podcast llamada Peppy. Además tiene su servicio VIP en el cual dicta cursos pagos según tu horario, los precios varian según el número de lecciones que tu quieras tomar. La ventaja es que no estas trabajando con un programa estás interactuando con una persona que está concentrando toda su atención y tomando nota para darte feedback. Tal como una clase particular.

Steve conoce 4 idiomas o 5, entre ellos Español. Así que si quieres practicar Inglés te lo recomiendo, tuve la oportunidad de hablar con él y es bastante profesional y dedicado a en su trabajo.

Sharing My English. Tricky English N°1

Today I will share with you some of the seccions that I already mentioned in my previous post I want to share my English with you.

The first "Tricky English" will be about "some mistakes"

Here are 2/6 examples of how the meaning can change with the use of an incorrect word.
Thanks to my friend and wonderful artist Leyre Arroyo who is not just a very good friend, but she's a "maja tía" from Madrid-Spain who I met when I lived in Toronto. She  was who drew all the examples, she did a wonderful job.

5 What does it mean?, Real English Out N°1.

Sometimes or most of the time we try to speak English with using expressions from our countries. That's no too bad, if you only want to comunicate. But the goal would be people can understand what you mean right?.

How about learn the best way to make sure they will understand what you mean?. That's the purpose of this seccion, so here you are some "Real English" exppresions also called idioms, you can learn today. 
1. "Get to the bottom of (something)" means: Find the truth or cause of a problem.

e.j: It took three years, but I finally got to the bottom of the fraud.
The police needed two weeks to get to the bottom of the robbery

2. "Slacker": is a lazy person who avoids work. It has been used to describe Generation X, the people born between 1963 and 1983.

3. "An internship": is a short-term, supervised work experience related  to a student's major program and / or career plans.


4. "Think outside the box" means: To think differently or in an original and creative way.

5. "Hack into" means: break into  a web site or computer illegally.

Sharing My English. Watch Out N°2.

Today I will share with you some of the seccions that I already mentioned in my previous post I want to share my English with you.

The first "Watch Out" will be about the word "Unique."

Unique is an absolute term and does not have a comparative or superlative form. So you can't say "more unique" or "the most unique". Other words like this are perfect and impossible.


This word is sometimes confusing, and I have made mistakes several times.
I used to say for example:
The unique thing I know is that...
In Spanish we can perfectly say: "Lo unica cosa que yo sé es" o "Lo único que sé es que.." but the correct way in English is using "only" so, be carefully with that.

The correct way to express it would be:
"The only thing I know is that.." or "No, that I know..."
It sounds and seems easy, but many people confuse it.

Today I will share with you some of the seccions that I already mentioned in I want to share my English with you

The first "Watch Out" will be about "tell and say"

The verb tell is used with an object:

1. I told my friend a joke / the truth / a story / a lie / the answer.

We use say when we report someone's words:

1. I said, You are late.
2. He said he had missed the bus.

It sounds and seems easy, but many people confused it.

I want to share my English with you

He aprendido en mis clases de inglés un montón de cosas que me gustaría compartir contigo. Desde hace unos 2 meses como cambiamos de teacher también hemos cambiado de libro. Estamos utilizando el libro de Susan Stempleski World Pass Upper-Intermediate. En este libro he conseguido algunas secciones interesantes y que me han servido bastante. Decidí escribir algunas para compartirlas contigo, entonces voy a segmentar la información y voy a publicar un post bastante breve por semana con un poquito de cada una. Las secciones serán:

• Tricky English: Veras del modo más gráfico como una simple preposición o palabra en inglés tiene un significado totalmente distinto.


• Watch Out: Compara el uso de dos palabras que tienen el mismo significado y explica como y cuando usar una u otra.
  
• Real English: Uso y significado de algunas expresiones utilizadas por nativos.
  
• I didn't know that!: Explica el verdadero origen de algunas palabras, la verdad es súper interesante.

Además voy a añadir algunos tips, los cuales llamaré Grammar Tips, que deberás tener en cuenta si quieres escribir algún post en inglés, reflexión o hasta una simple nota.

Comenzaré esta misma semana, y además de colocarla en mi blog voy a utilizar estos hagstag en twitter a través de @beamena. Así que espero que la información te sirva y sea útil. Si te tienes alguna idea o quieres sugerirme algo, déjame tu comentario.

Do you Agree or Disagree "Writing Int"

Do you agree or disagree with the following senteces: "Athletes make a lot of money"

I think in one way it is good because it works motivating people to do exercises, specially kids who dream with the idea to be famous like the biggest players do. I agree with the idea that athletes make money but I desagree with the amount, I mean, for them to be "famous people", they must open any charity or noun profit organization where they can help people without resources in this way they could show people what is the benefits instead of spending their money in luxurious stuff.

Find a summer Job "Writing Pre-Int"

I am an Accounting graduate from UJAP in Venezuela. I have an MBA with concentration in Marketing from Fundesem Business School in Alicante- Spain. I have some experience in Public Relations because I worked in an International Departament in Fundesem.
Actually I am learning English in ILAC in Toronto- Canada. Because I need this language to complement my profesional background.
I looking for more experience in Marketing, but only part time. I'm more interested in practicing English than a good salary (for the moment)

Using preposition "Writing Pre-Int"

I had to wake up very early because first I had to go by car for two hours to Caracas which is the capital. I went with my brother, and I remember that we left at 12:00pm and arrived in caracas about 5:00pm because there was lots of traffic there.
When I arrived in Caracas. I checked and waited to be called to board. I boarded from gate 13 and the flight left about 12:00am. Then I arrived in Toronto the next morning at 6:30am. My friend Alvaro picked me up from the airport. Then I went to my friend's house and slept all day.

Maybe this kind of post seems stupid but the use of the preposition in English is hard!
